After completing his electrical qualif...view moreHerby FitzGerald was one of seven children. Being raised in Levin, in the 1950’s, he completed tertiary qualifications at Horowhenua College. After completing his electrical qualifications with J G Rennie Ltd. He carried on with similar studies towards gaining his NZCE recognition. In early 1961, he moved from Levin to Wellington, where he met his wife, Jan. Over the next fifty years, they travelled extensively around the South Pacific.
The height of his achievements was in the Electrical Engineering, being responsible for the protection of 5000 workers 200 of whom were electricians in a Copper and Gold mining on the tropical Island of Bougainville. What was to be a 12 month contract drew out to be six years. He intends to submit written work on this stage of his life soon.
At the end of this time, Herby and Jan returned to New Zealand to raise their three children in Rotorua.
Herby and Jan finally returned to Levin to retirement in June 2010. His main interest is writing, and at present he is writing a book on his ten years of successful research hobby into the disappearance of the, “Pink and White Terraces”.
In February 2010, The Pink and White terraces made world-wide headlines with the announcement that they are not missing. Herby says his involvement instigated this announcement. The book will be compelling reading.view less
