I was born in Papuan New Guinea and stayed there until I was about three feet tall, then a little bit in Malaysia, followed by almost seven years in the Sultanate of Oman (as a geologist looking for oil, which was not a very difficult task) and then obviously, Australia for the vast majority of my time on the planet. While Australia is my home, the Sultanate of Oman holds a particularly special place for me. Got married and had both our wonderful children in that faraway land and on top of those life changing things, the country itself is a marvel. Sweeping natural landscapes from blistering, dune seas to sheer, broken mountain ranges and of course the glittering, pristine waters of the Arabian Sea. There's even a little bit of rainforest in the south at Salalah in the monsoon season. I love Salalah. Read The End Of Time and you'll find out why. In fact if you read The End Of Time, you'll find Oman plays as much a starring role as any of the characters and I hope it inches you closer to maybe visiting the country. Anyway, enough of me. Get busy reading.view less
