I grew up in the Midwest where the only rule was to be home by dark. We were free to wander the back alleys that led to worlds waiting to be explored.
I have lived in many areas of the country and have gained insight from people and their lives through observation. I plan to continue, as life without learning has little to offer.
I desire to see the world through children’s eyes not yet clouded by prejudice and presumption, but through the lens of youth trained on distant galaxies. I attended schools where creativity was judged by one’s ability to stay within the lines and futures determined by social and economic status.
I hope in my lifetime to see these inadequacies erased by inclusion and respect. Perspective and passion become opaque over time leaving a narrowing vision of the world we inhabit. A child’s world is miraculous because it begins new each day.
