Following his retirement from a highly successful retail career, he embarked on a fifteen-year journey that eventually led to a master’s degree in modern Jewish history. Along the way, he earned a scholarship as the best part-time graduate history student. Gerald has written and lectured for over twenty years on modern Jewish history, speaking in numerous synagogues and to organizations in Canada, the United States, and Israel. A special focus of his lectures has been the inspirational lives of those who made a difference in the course of Jewish life in the twentieth century. Gerald has written three other books: Inspiration through Adversity, an autobiography; Blockade, a book about Jewish immigration; and Epic Trials in Jewish History.view less
